Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Jennifer Shigetomi, the creative force behind MATSU, initially pursued an education in Fine Arts at the Ontario College of Art and Design. Although the four years at OCAD fuelled her artistic drive, she realized that her innate technical side needed an outlet. After exploring extracurricular evening courses in wax carving for jewelry, Jennifer realized that she had found a medium that balanced both artistry and technique.

Jennifer's design philosophy of cool elegance infused with an edgy flair is showcased by the blending of clean lines, fluid shapes, and a satin finish. The sculptural nature of her pieces has a softness; an almost liquid quality that seems to contradict the inherent characteristics of the metal. Jennifer's collection of handwrought jewelry is crafted in sterling silver, gold, and platinum.
